Beauty of Fall walking tour

We have had such a colorful fall in SW Washington, so I thought I would show you a few more photos of our fall foliage. This post will be a little light on words. I'll let the pictures express the beauty of fall.

This is one of the lovely lakes we like to visit, although the water is a bit murky this time of year, the trees are gorgeous with all their rusts and golds.

The colors of fall make a lovely collage.

These pictures were taken in late October and some of the trees hadn't quite reached their peak yet. The Monticello Hotel is peeking through a bit in this photo.

Most of these photos were taken in the early afternoon. I really like the  interesting light and shadows this time of day. I've shared photos of this historical library before. It's one of my favorite places to photograph in Longview, WA.

A side view of the library and a huge maple tree.

I wanted to show a closer view of the enormous trunk.

More lovely trees near the lake.

The sun was so bright when I took a few of these photos that it washed the colors out somewhat. This is the entrance to the Japanese Garden. You can take a tour of this beautiful Garden in my earlier post here.

The bridge leading to the Japanese Garden.

One of our last stops of the day was the historic  RA Long High School.

The grounds are beautiful here, especially this time of year. All the maples are lined up in a row showing off their beautiful colors.

RA Long High School was built in the late 20's and still serves as a high school today. Very pretty architecture.

Love the look of this building with all the beautiful fall trees.

I love old clock towers and this one is gorgeous. Also, love all the beautiful stone work in these historic buildings.

A velvety carpet of fallen leaves on the school grounds.

And the lovely hills of autumn with a clear blue sky.  Thanks for visiting!

  1. So very beautiful!
We had lovely Autumn color here in north Mississippi, too, but it didn't last long. Lots of leaves on the ground now. We use the lawn mower to chop them up to return nutrients to the soil, but a lot of people here burn them..
Hope you are having a wonderful day!
