We headed out to one of our favorite places to spend the 4th of July. The fireworks show in Longview, WA is always so special, especially since it is shown over their beautiful lake.
We spent the day with some friends from our church. Our gracious hosts Ken and Carrie always have a great cookout. They've been welcoming their friends into their home for the Fourth since the late 90's.
Ken's the grill guy and he made some great ribs and shrimp along with other goodies. He also has a sense of humor. Love the apron! The weather was so cool and comfortable which made it a great day to spend outside.
Carrie is always busy setting things up and being a charming hostess. There are times you feel like telling Carrie to take a break, she is so energetic. I forgot to get pics of the salad table, it was set up so nice. Here are some of the desserts and snacks that everyone brought. They work so hard to put this together every year and we really appreciate it.
Their sweet dogs were safely hidden because crowds of people and fireworks make them nervous. Jasmine is on the right and wouldn't hold still for me to take a pic of her so Ken helped out. She seems rather shy and has such a sweet face.
Toby was always ready for his closeup. He's so calm and such a cute boy!
Carrie has some patriotic decor on her mantel. They're all so cute. I love the Disney characters she has displayed.
I also wanted to share Snow White and her charming little Dwarfs.
Great patriotic picture, even though I had some problems with the glare.
She also had this lovely vintage advertisement for Max Factor lipstick. It makes such a beautiful display with actress Judy Garland.
Such a lovely image of Judy from the 1940's. Movie stars were truly movie stars back then. So classy! Vintage touches such as this add so much to your home. I'll be on the lookout for something similar.
I love all the detail in this lipstick ad. An advertisement then was like a lovely work of art.
After the cookout we watched a classic movie and visited some more, then hubby and I headed to the lake to watch the fireworks. While we were walking to the lake we saw something so cute on the side of this tree.
How unusual is this. They placed a little chair on a tree with an ear of corn for the squirrels. The homeowner thought it was so funny that I stopped to take a picture of it. It was so funny to see! Now if only a squirrel or a bird had been sitting there!
The fireworks at the lake are always spectacular here. They put on a great show and you can sit on the bank of the lake and get a great view.
It's always hard to get good pics of fireworks. I love the blazing red.
Even though I didn't get the great pics I wanted of the finale, we thought this was the best show they've ever had. It was a lovely cool evening as well. Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July celebration!
Thanks for stopping by!
