St. Paddy's Day basket

St. Patrick's Day is almost upon us and since I am a wee bit Irish, I wanted to put together something sweet and simple. I had a metal basket that I wanted to do something with, and then I found this adorable Irish lass  on the Graphics Fairy and decided to use her image for my project.

Such a charming graphic with an old fashioned Irish saying.

I used some card stock I had on hand and made some shamrocks and added the letters using my stamps. I found some pretty faux green carnations and white flowers at Joann's and grouped them together for my basket. I did something similar to this on Valentine's day as well. My basket was already green so I didn't have to paint it and I added some lace for contrast. I was in a hurry to get this done so I didn't take any before pics. I had this idea in mind for awhile, but of course I waited till the last minute to put it together. I still have a few days until St. Paddy's!

I wanted to share some pics of my pantry so I added the basket to the front handle. We had to buy a pantry for grocery storage and I wanted something farmhouse style so we added this shaker style pantry. It's actually in our hallway, as I mentioned in my previous post our kitchen is a wee bit small.

A few more close up pics of the flowers and shamrocks.

I used a floral image for the background of my shamrock and the craft papers looked similar to clovers so I used those for my letters.

I know St. Paddy's Day is overlooked by some people but we can always use another holiday to celebrate and I'm looking forward to watching "The Quiet Man" with John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.  I only watch it this time of year so I won't ever get tired of it. The supporting cast is really great too. It is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I like to lighten and soften the colors of my photos at times because it gives such an old fashioned feel to the images.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy St. Patrick's day, however you choose to celebrate!

Diane

  1. Your cupboard is not mine but very similar to one that I have! I did a double-take thinking it was the same at first...interesting! :) I just did a post recently on my blog about pussy willows yet only a piece of the cupboard that I have shows though I probably have something in my Home Tour on the dining room section that shows it. Come see when you get the chance...you'll see what I mean!
