Valentine door basket

I have one more Valentine project to share with you. I updated my door basket  from Christmas and turned it into a Valentine display.

This basket has been on our front door since Christmas and looks a bit weathered, but I left it as is and just added some Valentine hearts. I think it looks kind of like a FTD bouquet wannabe but I still like it.

This is how it looked at Christmas.  We have a small overhang on the front, but it rains here so much that the basket does look a little roughed up compared to before. I wanted to repurpose it for Valentine's day.

I cut out a few hearts and stamped them with my french script stamp. I made a small banner for the front and added some heart picks  to the rest of the basket. I thought the Christmas and Valentine picks worked well together.  The bow was made from a strip of the basket.

I like the contrast of the white and the red hearts. This was so easy to put together.  Everything was already done, all I had to add were the hearts. I love a quick project.

Red hearts and berries go well together. Hubs thought it looked really cute too.

I love the little white hearts as well. So now I have a red Valentine door and pink hearts on my mantel. Wishing you a sweet Valentine's day!
Thanks for visiting.

Pink Hearts

With Valentine's day quickly approaching I wanted to share my pink heart mantel. I rarely decorate with pink, although I love pink flowers. I also  have a tendency to wait till the last minute on my projects at times, so I wanted to make this simple and use craft paper, yarn and fabric and make it less costly as well. I've been seeing  some lovely V day projects on the blogs since January, so I knew I needed to get busy.

I didn't have anything to decorate with, valentine decor wise, but I  love making banners so I knew I would start with that. I cut some hearts out of pink glitter card stock and attached them to a single strand of pom pom yarn. I like to explore the yarn and paper areas of craft stores because you can find so many affordable ideas for your craft projects.

I wrapped some fabric around a wreath form and added some rose ribbon and paper hearts. Lovely vintage birds were added to the front of  some pink card stock, courtesy of  the Graphics Fairy.

I used some craft scissors with a scalloped edge for the border of the bird graphic. I wasn't sure what to do with my apothecary jars until I found the leftover mulberry paper. It actually comes from the bark of the mulberry tree and has natural fibers in it.  It is almost translucent and works well  for craft projects, so I lined my apothecary jars with it.  I have several heart stamps and I added an image to my jar in addition to pom poms.

The sweet little white birds are from Michael's. I made another dimensional heart  and added it to the front of the stand with the Valentine greeting.

I needed something to fill in the mantel a bit so I made some pom poms to add to my basket. I added another card I made with  a stamped heart image.

I think it might be a bit challenging to knit with this pom pom yarn, but it makes a great banner for my paper hearts.

A close up of the vintage bird and the mulberry paper. I love these bird graphics. There is such an old fashioned romanticism about them.

A reminder of what we all need, not just on Valentine's day but all year long.

To continue the hearts and birds theme I added my french heart stamp to this card, the ink was rather light so the colors are softer. I think my hubs actually likes this mantel, even though it is definitely feminine and too pink for him I'm sure. He acts like I made it just for him. Not quite, I'm waiting  for my flowers!

Thanks for stopping by.  Comments are always appreciated!
